Sacbrood disease - Cause, symptoms and effects.
Sacbrood, a disease caused by a filterable virus, does not usually cause severe losses. It is most common during the first half of the brood-rearing season and often goes unnoticed, since it usually affects only a small percentage of the brood.
Sacbrood is an infectious disease of honeybees caused by multiplication of sacbrood virus in larvae, propupae and adult bees. The specific symptoms of infection produced in propupae are a reliable means of diagnoses.
